November 26, 2016 – Labradores Family Lights the First Candle of the Advent Wreath

On November 26, 2016, during the 5:30 PM anticipated Sunday mass, the lighting of the first candle of advent wreath took place. The family of Bro Gilbert Labradores, who was assigned to light the candle, joined the entrance procession. The mass presider was Msgr. Nestor Cerbo., who blessed the advent wreath with holy water prior to the lighting.
The Order of Blessing of Advent Wreathe used tells us that as we open the season of Advent, we also open our hearts to God’s love to welcome Christ into our lives and homes. The Advent Wreath candles remind us that Jesus Christ came to conquer the darkness of sin and to lead us into the light of his glorious kingdom in heaven.
The first candle of the advent wreath signifies the first Sunday of Advent. The advent wreath symbolizes the start of our waiting for the coming of Jesus Christ. As Msgr. Nestor said, Advent means “pagdating” or the coming of Jesus Christ. He reminded us in his homily that we should always try our best to follow the path to God. We will know that we are following Him if we do the His commandments and do good deeds to others. In following the path to God, our needs will always be provided and much more will be given to us.
