The Easter Salubong is one the most anticipated traditions during the conclusion of Holy Week, where young and old alike gather to witness the glorious meeting of the Blessed Mother and the Resurrected Jesus Christ.
The Easter Salubong in our parish followed after the Easter Vigil, which was already past midnight of April 16, 2017. The image of the Blessed Mother came from Barangay Rivera, while the image of the Resurrected Jesus Christ came from Brgy. St. Joseph. Members of BEC Rivera and BEC St. Joseph took charge in adorning the carosas with beautiful flowers fit for the occasion. Several people from the said barangays also participated in the procession.
As the images of the Blessed Mother and the Resurrected Christ came in at the parish patio, the little angels started singing the Regina Caeli (popularly known as “Reyna ng Lagit” in Tagalog). As the two images come closer to each other, a man-made cloud opens with an angel inside, and pulls-up the black mourning veil which covers the Blessed Mother. A loud applause and joyous cheer came from the crowd, which made everyone feel that the Lord has truly risen. Shortly after, the SJBP Joint Choir sung their soulful rendition of Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.
Special acknowledgement goes to Sis. Mary Pacheco who prepared the stage and man-made cloud for the angel, and to Bro. Joel Salazar for setting-up the lights which added to the festivity of the event.
Thanks be to God! Alleluia! Alleluia!
