SJBP community welcomes another blessing this year through our new resident guest priest, Rev. Fr. Mark Andrew Marbella, who arrived in our parish last November 8, 2017. We had a first glimpse of Fr. Mark through the 6:15 PM mass of the same day, and then he was formally introduced to the Parish Leaders of SJBP through a simple welcome dinner at the Parish Celebration Hall.
Fr. Mark is actually from the Diocese of Sorsogon, but is staying in Manila for a few years to complete his Licentiate in Sacred Theology, Major in Missiology, which he is taking up at the University of Santo Tomas.
Born October 20, 1986 at Gubat, Sorsogon, Fr. Mark is the eldest child of Melchor and Ma. Jenny. He has two younger siblings, Mae Joy and Ma. Glecee. He finished a degree in Philosophy at Our Lady of Peñafrancia College Seminary in 2007, and then moved to Rome to study Theology at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, which he completed in 2011.
He was ordained priest on March 21, 2013 and since then had served the Diocese of Sorsogon through various assignments. He became Parochial Vicar at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedrlal as well as in St. Anthony of Padua Parish. He also became Vice Director for the Commisssion on Education, Vice Director for the Catechetical Ministry, and Director for the Biblical Apostolate of the Diocese of Sorsogon.
Fr. Mark enjoys eating his favorite Bikolano dishes, playing table tennis, reading, and visiting families involved in BEC. He initially finds the parish under Msgr. Cerbo’s leadership as welcoming and vibrant, and he looks forward to serve the community in the best that he could as a student-guest priest.
In behalf of the whole SJBP community, we are very pleased to have you around, Fr. Mark! We look forward to working and growing our faith with you. May you have a peaceful haven here in San Juan!
