MARCH 29, 2018 – CHRISM MASS AT MANILA CATHEDRAL

The Chrism Mass at Manila Cathedral was held on the morning of Maundy Thursday. Msgr. Nestor Cerbo, our parish priest, together with our resident guest priests, Fr. Raul Cuyag and Fr. Mark Marbella, attended the said celebration. Some of our parishioners also came to show their love and support to our priests, for the renewal of their priestly vows.

The solemn celebration was attended by all the priests in the Archdiocese of Manila, and H.E. Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle was the main presider. Cardinal Tagle’s homily focused on this year’s novena theme, “Renewed Servant Leaders for the New Evangelization.” He emphasized 3 important reminders in Evangelization (Communicating the Good News) – to communicate by COVENANT (by relationship) and not by manipulation (fake news, or saying something for one’s personal gain); to be SILENT and to be ATTENTIVE to God who speaks, for we could not proclaim what we do not hear from God; and to communicate with INTEGRITY, for the Good News is always effectively proclaimed through our way of life.

In his closing message, Cardinal Tagle thanked the parish communities for their continued love, understanding, and support to all the priests of the Archdiocese. He also asked for forgiveness in behalf of all the priests, for their weakness and limitations, and for the times they are not able to fulfill their duties.

Let us always remember to pray for our priests that they may remain faithful and happy evangelizers of God’s Good News of Salvation.
